The
San Jose
America Festival,
held each year
on the 4th of July, celebrates the
diverse and numerous communities
of which America is built.
Now in its 18th year, the 2008 event showcases a new
beneficiary:
Habitat for Humanity Silicon Valley.
Known internationally for building communities, Habitat for
Humanity is doing incredible work building homes right here in
Silicon Valley. While the America Festival has always been a
celebration
of the American Dream, Habitat for Humanity builds that dream
with every new project.
At the
Festival, the variety of
communities
that
comprise
San Jose and Silicon Valley come together to
enjoy
American and
international music,
multicultural crafts
and a variety of ethnic and festival
foods.
The Festival
is
free all day,
very
family-oriented
and centrally located at
Discovery
Meadow.
Performances at the
Main Stage
include music by
grammy-winning
pop
stars,
classic tributes,
and Japanese
drummers, to
name a few. The
Blues Stage
features the very best local blues artists, straight from
JJ’s Blues Club.
And be sure to come early for our Concert for Affordable Home Ownership,
starring SmashMouth’s Greg Camp, and special surprise guests.
Rides and
games designed especially for children are in
Kidland,
an area focused on young fun.
The entire day culminates in a
spectacular
fireworks show
at 9:30pm that draws record crowds and is broadcast live
throughout the Bay Area.

additional days of concerts
with similar festival activities.
On Saturday
July 5, KSJO La Preciosa presents
Dia de la Familia Preciosa, starring the
sensational Amanda Miguel and Diego Verdaguer. Finally on
Sunday July 6, join local boy Greg Kihn in welcoming Night
Ranger, Starship starring Mickey Thomas, and of course the
Greg Kihn Band to our 3rd annual
Kihncert on the Green. It
is a FULL weekend of fun in Downtown San Jose. Who cares about
